Transitional Housing Program
The After Hours Project’s Transitional Housing Program offers safe, clean, and affordable housing for individuals living with HIV/AIDS who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Our goal is to empower clients to achieve stable housing and access comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment.
We provide housing and support services, including:
- Independent living skills counseling
- Advocacy and entitlement services
- Educational, vocational, and employment referrals and placement
We believe that stable housing is essential for improving quality of life and facilitating effective health care management.
AHP offers both congregate and scattered-site housing options. We also work to place clients in permanent, affordable housing through our short-term housing program or by referring them to external housing providers.
The After Hours Project’s Transitional Housing Program has expanded significantly since its inception in 2010, now offering over 50 housing units across Brooklyn and Queens. Our commitment to providing high-quality housing for individuals living with HIV/AIDS sets our program apart.
Short-Term Rental Assistance Program
The Short-Term Rental Assistance Program (STRAP) provides financial support to individuals and families who are facing housing affordability challenges. AHP’s STRAP temporarily subsidizes rental payments to landlords or property management companies, with the goal of helping clients achieve long-term housing stability within two years.
How does the program work?
If you meet the eligibility requirements for the Short-Term Rental Assistance Program, we will work with you to develop a personalized plan to support your housing stability. AHP will make direct payments to your landlord or property management company on your behalf. We will also provide you with case management services to address any additional challenges you may be facing.
Why is Short-Term Rental Assistance important?
Stable Housing: A Foundation for Health and Well-being
Research has demonstrated that stable housing is crucial for good health and well-being. Without a safe and affordable place to live, it can be challenging to manage mental health and overall health. The Short-Term Rental Assistance Program can help you maintain stable housing and achieve your health and wellness goals.
