Syringe Service Program
Syringe Service Program
The Syringe Service Program (SSP) provides sterile syringes, safe syringe disposal and comprehensive harm reduction services to the community.
Syringe Service Programs, like ours, have contributed to the reduction of HIV/AIDS rates among people who use drugs in NYC. As of 1990, HIV/AIDS rates surpassed above 50%. A stark contrast to the decrease in current rates today, which have declined to below 5%.
Expanded Syringe Access Program
The Expanded Syringe Access Program (ESAP) allows registered Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses and Pharmacies to furnish up to ten syringes over the counter to anyone 18 years or older.
AHP has been instrumental in recruiting aforementioned providers with the necessary expertise and fostering collaboration within the program to increase the accessibility of sterile syringes.
Treatment Readiness Services
AHP promotes the overall health and wellbeing of our participants by connecting them to health care and treatment services. Linkages may include long-term residential treatment, methadone maintenance, buprenorphine and other proven modalities upon request.
